The Aftermath...

She awoke slowly at first, aware of a burning all around one side of her body. "Damn... She muttered as she opened her eyes. At first they refused to focus right and everything remained blurred. She raised her right arm to rub her eyes clear. It stopped before reaching her face, bound by some thing.

"Chains..." She thought to herself, regaining most of her senses. The events before she was rendered unconscious came quickly back to her. "Gods..." Her eyes teared up. "Father... Cazla... I wonder what happened to every one..."

As her vision cleared she saw that she was in a cell, and both of her arms were connected to chains that hung from the wall. All at once pride and anger filled her. "How DARE some one attack on our home planet?!" Her energy grew as her feelings consumed her. "No chains can keep me from getting revenge for my friends!" She yelled to no one, half hoping some one would come so she may attack them. A low growl escaped her throat as she pulled hard at the chains, yanking downward as hard as she can. The chains didn't give, but instead cut into her wrists. She gasped and pulled her wrists back. Her eyes narrowed as she thought silently to herself, "this isn't metal... It would have at least given way if it were... This is some thing strange, almost like plastic."

"Mmmmm... You are quite the feisty one, aren't you... I believe you took out a few of our warriors, didn't you?" The voice sounded like one of a man, it's tones deep as he drawled some of his words. "Hmmm, who would think a girl could fight." The man came into view, chuckling to himself. "But then I guess you saiyans are all the same. Stupid monkeys."

Verasha grabbed the chains behind her as she kicked up with all her might. He was smart; standing what he thought was just out of her reach. She managed to hit the very edge of his chin, knocking him back a little.

He blinked and shook his head, rubbing at his chin before he glanced up at her; a look of total surprise crossed his face before he smiled at her again, his face as blank as it first was. "Weeeell... You are interesting... Hmm..." He chuckled as he turned around, whipping a bit of blood from his chin, glancing back at her out of the corner of his eye. "Maybe if I ask Lord Freeza nicely, he'll give you to me as a reward after taking over the palace."

He must have caught the hatred in her eyes, because he turned back around. Although, this time standing a lot further away. "What's the matter little one? Don't want to be a slave? That's what your race is now to us, pets and slaves." He snorted and snapped his fingers, "although I wanted the prince... Him and his father took out half the invasion force. Very impressive for the likes of YOU."

Verasha smiled and sighed. Vegeta was ok... And he put up a good fight. The man narrowed his eyes and looked her over. "Are you of royal blood? Your king swore that he only had one child... No, you don't look anything like him, or the prince." His eyes light up and he smiled sinisterly, "Ahhhh... Either you are very loyal, or you and that monkey prince had some thing going. And from the reactions of your other people, I think it was the latter. That would make sense why you-" He frowned and lifted his hand, sending a large energy wave against her, knocking her back and holding her to the wall. He looked behind him, then around the out side of her cell before he walked up to her. His face inches from hers, he smiled. "I know some thing that Lord Freeza would like to know... YOU were responsible for taking out another large chunk of our army. I watched you take down countless numbers of my men, as if they were nothing but toys to you. You have some thing special... Which is why you'd make a good pet for me. Instead of whatever meaningless task Lord Freeza decides for you. That is, if he wants you to live. Behave, and I'll make sure to keep you from further suffering... What do you say?"

He had leaned even closer towards her, his light purple eyes staring into hers. Verasha's nose wrinkled and she shuddered at the proximity of him. In response to his question she merely smiled back at him. He smiled and reached up to caress her cheek. She laughed quietly as he reached for her, kicking with all that she had left, pushing against his energy. Her kick caught him on the side of his gut, tossing him into the wall, nearly brining it down around him.

She laughed and laid her head back against the cool stone of her cell. "I'd say you're a fool. Don't think I'd ever be submissive to you, I'd rather die then become some one else's slave." She smirked as she looked at the damage she had caused. "Here's a tip for your stupid 'Lord Freeza'. Don't ever underestimate my people. It'll be the last mistake you OR him ever make."

He slowly shook his head; his long silver hair glinting as it caught what little light there is inside of the cell. He wasn't all that tall, and he looked rather scrawny. He wore a light purple body suit, accenting his well-built muscles. Verasha smiled and knew not to take her captor lightly, even if he did look puny, since he was part of the reason her planet fell. He picked himself up as guard came running down the hall, yelling in a language that she didn't recognize.

"I'm in here... Everything is ok, I just got too close to our captured feline here..." The silver hair man chuckled and rubbed at her side. "Phew! That one has quite the kick."

The guard that had just entered the room leered at Verasha, his eyes roaming over her body. "Then she'd be lots of fun in other areas as well." He took two long strides before the other man punched him in his gut, sending him flying out of the cell.

"She isn't to be used as that. And if I find out that any one, and I mean ANY ONE has touched her, then I will rip your innards out and use them for bootlaces!" He growled as the guard stared wide-eyed at the silver haired mean.

"Ye...yes sir! I will pass that along to the rest of the guard... Uhm, Subru, sir?"

Subru gave the guard a dark look as he said coldly, "what?"

"Uh, never mind sir... I... I'll go pass the word." He ran out of the cell faster then she had ever seen any one his age move.

Subru chuckled and brushed off some small pieces of stone off of his shoulder.

"My my my... Don't you have your guards trained well." She sneered as she watched the dust settle after the guard's hasty retreat. "If you expect me to be grateful then-" She gasped as he quickly backhanded her.

"That's for kicking me... and for assuming that we are equal. You will address me as either master, or sir. And you will only speak when spoken to, is that understood?" He looked her over with the same cold look he gave his guard. "Look little one, you're not anything to any one here, so if you want to survive you have to listen to me, got it?"

Verasha opened her mouth to say the rudest thing she could think of... then quickly shut it. If she stayed alive, then she could grow stronger and avenge her friends... and father. Whether he was alive or not, she would see that little horned pink thing dead for hurting him... or worse. She sighed and nodded, "FINE."

Subru smirked then turned around to walk to the door. At the threshold he paused and glanced back at her, his purple eyes clouding as he stared into hers. Verasha blinked and looked away. "WHAT?!" His face expressed several emotions that were to brief for her to recognize before finally going back to the cold, statue-like appearance.

He rolled his eyes then turned to leave. As soon as he was out of sight, Verasha sighed heavily. "What the hell is going on?" She thought to herself. She ached to be able to rub her head... She was so confused, and the memories from what had happened just served to further that confusion. "How could some one attack us? Why didn't some one know sooner? How could we lose?" Her thoughts swirled about her mind until she couldn't stay awake much longer.

The sound of some one whistling woke Verasha up with a start. This time there was no confusion as to where she was. The cold feel of the metal against her skin made chills run up and down her arms. Smells of warm food wafted to her nose and she was suddenly aware of a gnawing in her stomach.  A woman strode purposefully into Verasha's cell holding a tray of some lightly golden biscuits along with some gray and lumpy gravy. She didn't even bother to look at Verasha as she set it down near her feet and quickly left. Verasha blinked in surprise and wondered if this was some sort of torture... Until a familiar figure filled the doorway.

"Good morning monkey. How are you doing?" Subru smiled and watched for her reaction to his insult. When she just glared at him he chuckled. "Well, I'm glad you learn quickly... That's a blessing in itself..."

Verasha's stomach gave a very audible protest as she looked down at the food she couldn't reach. Subru laughed and shook his head. "By the gods we have some stupid help. They were supposed to feed you, not toss it at you like an animal." He smirked and cautiously bent down to retrieve the tray, all the while keeping a very close eye on her feet. "If you'll behave long enough for me to give this to you, you can quiet that stomach of yours." When she only gave him a dirty look, he carefully took a piece of bread and gave it to her. She glared even harder at him until he realized the problem. Her chains weren't long enough to reach her mouth. "Ah! Well that would help, wouldn't it?"

He sighed and floated up to a dark corner, where he fiddled with some thing that Verasha couldn't see. Suddenly her arms were no longer being held up by her restraints. A length of the chain clanked to the floor as loudly as she did, cursing and using words she had heard some of the palace guards use. Subru just laughed as he watched her fall.

"Oh yeah... I'm going to let more then just a little out, be prepared for it." He smirked as he watched her rub her joints, sore from being held up for so long.

As soon as she returned the feeling to her shoulders she lunged at Subru. She caught his boot and pulled him down, her tail wrapping around his foot as she quickly pinned him to the wall, watching his face intently.

"Do it. Kill me. It won't bring your people back to life or freedom. Only you and Vegeta can bring them freedom from here... and you can't do that when you're dead. And I assure you, when they see that I'm gone, you will be destroyed. You're nothing to them but entertainment. To me... To me your unique, an untapped source of power." He lowered his voice so that it was just below a whisper, her sharp ears heard him as if he were speaking in normal tones. "I can make you stronger, and I understand how you feel... My kind was taken by Freeza, and as far as I know I'm the only one left. I don't have enough power to defeat Freeza, but WE might have a chance. Just cooperate with me for a little while longer. As soon as Freeza lets me take you home as a pet, I'll let you free. IF that's what you want."

Verasha gently put Subru back down. "Alright," She leaned forward and whispered into his ear, to make sure only he would hear her words. "I'll trust you this far... And if what you say is true, then I'll fight with you." Verasha leaned back, the chain's light tinkling sound the only thing heard as she walked over to the tray of food. Neatly folding her legs beneath her she sat and quietly ate her food.

Subru watched her, completely speechless. Finally he sighed and nodded. "Thank you... I'll come back tomorrow." As he made for the door Verasha held up her hand and opened her mouth, but hesitated to ask what had been bothering her. He noticed her gesture and turned to her as he leaned against the doorframe. He quickly leaned back and saw that no one was near them. "I know what you want to ask. The man that jumped in front of Freeza's blast... he didn't make it." Verasha fought to keep her composure as feelings of rage and sadness over whelmed her... Her father had given his life to save her, so she promised herself that she'll never waist it. "Your king is alive... Barely. Vegeta is fine, if ornery. There is a small amount of the palace guards that were kept alive." His face clouded over, hate filling his eyes. "They kept most of the women around. The rest of the planet is in disrepair, but most of the nonmilitary people are ok." He frowned and shook his head. "I don't know why I'm going to risk this but I will... Do you want me to tell Vegeta some thing, IF I can get the chance?"

Verasha's eyes lit up as she nodded and smiled widely. "Tell him I'm alright and that I..." She blushed and looked away. "Tell him that I swear that together we'll take down Freeza."
